This is the temporary home for accentuate.us, a web service for automatic diacritic restoration created by Kevin Scannell and Michael Schade in 2010. The original version supported 116 languages, but hosting that many languages proved to be prohibitively expensive (especially when compared with the number of active daily users), and so we shut down the API in 2014.

Since accentuate.us was particularly popular among speakers of Irish and Scottish Gaelic, I've decided to revive the API for the three Gaelic languages, and have provided a web interface that you can test drive. The idea is very simple; if you put in a sentence in Irish without diacritics into the form, for example “ta me i mo mhuinteoir”, accentuate.us will automatically correct this to “tá mé i mo mhúinteoir”.
